What's up, my name is Jason Felkey, and I am 27 years old now living in Southern California. I grew up racing Motocross since I was 6 years old. When I wasn't racing, I was spending my free time pencil sketching designs on paper growing into what I then discovered as Graphic Design around 2011. I started with small companies I looked up to such as MotoOption Clothing and my first full time job at a small motocross graphic company in Clio, Michigan (BentleyGFX). This provided a great foundation to build experience working one on one with customers, all the way from design to print.
Fortunately, after a few years of obtaining knowledge and gaining confidence in my ability to expand my art within the industry, I was brought the opportunity in the summer of 2017, to work for DeCal Works. This was a positive step towards my career as this taught me unique skills in workflow to keep up on high order demand. In addition, Decal Works provided a serious experience, being able to work alongside professional race teams such as Red Bull KTM. Although this position provided a perspective from one end of the industry, I still did not feel I had the design freedom necessary to improve my craft and expand the industry in a positive way.
As of April 2019, I moved to California in order to begin my new position at Split Designs Co. based out of Temecula. Split is a company I looked up to since my earliest design days, so landing a role as Lead Designer has been a great personal goal accomplishment. My role quickly grew from a Lead Design position, to managing several employees, keeping up on product stock, maintaining social media appearance, and everything else I can get my hands on. This position and responsibility strengthened my knowledge and skills on many different aspects, which I feel are important to any company in the motocross industry. Currently I am working full time for Canvas MX as a Lead Designer and also maintaining Printing/manufacturing for Lucid in Murrieta California.
I appreciate you taking the time to read my back story, I am proud of my accomplishments thus far, and I am eager to see where the future lands me. Graphic Design is truly my deepest passion, and I seek to innovate the design appearance of the riders in our sport one click at a time.
